11.   Eight of the escaped militants were recaptured at a railway station near Madras, but one of them died after swallowing cyanide capsules, the police said.

12.   Two guerrillas swallowed cyanide capsules and died, while two managed to escape.

13.   LTTE cadres are reputed to swallow the capsule to avoid being caught alive by the Sri Lankan security forces.

14.   Local authorities said, however, that only six had been recaptured and three had committed suicide by swallowing cyanide capsules.
