11.   Severe storms pounded the central part of the nation today, while the East Coast and far Southwest were mostly dry.

12.   The latest storm Thursday pounded San Diego with heavy rain but caused little more than snarled traffic.

13.   The storms also pounded six other northern provinces, causing widespread flooding but no deaths or injuries.

14.   The storm still pounded the Mexican coast Tuesday, driving seawater through the streets of Ciudad del Carmen that flooded homes and forced thousands into emergency shelters.

15.   By mid-afternoon Monday, the storm was already pounding the US Virgin Islands with strong tropical storm winds, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said.
