11.   The opponents of changing the family law have opposed even the special amnesty, saying it would be no different from an outright appeal.

12.   The special amnesty will clear their criminal records and allow them to regain such civil rights as voting and running for electoral posts.

13.   Former cabinet ministers and other prominent South Koreans jailed for corruption are to be freed Thursday under a special presidential amnesty marking Liberation Day.
