11.   Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

12.   Cut in shortening with pastry blender or knife until mixture resembles coarse meal.

13.   Cut in the shortening with two knives until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

14.   Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.

15.   Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

16.   If using a food processor, cut butter into chunks and process until mixture resembles coarse meal.

17.   In another bowl blend the brown sugar, flour, oats, salt, cinnamon, ginger, walnuts and butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

18.   Rapidly cut the butter into the flour with your fingertips or two knives, until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

19.   Rub in the cold butter and shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.

20.   Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until it resembles coarse meal.
