11.   Bishop Gerardi was bludgeoned to death in the garage of his parish house shortly after presenting a human rights report critical of the Guatemalan army.

12.   Gazaryan had gone to the parish house behind the cathedral Wednesday afternoon and met with a priest there, police said.

13.   Interior Minister Rodolfo Mendoza said the man was seen by a homeless Guatemalan in a crime-ridden park in front of the parish house, he said.
