11. Baseline measurements of blood pressure and oxygen saturation were recorded on two occasions two minutes apart. 12. During the procedure pulse rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation were recorded every minute by the research nurse. 13. Finally differences in oxygen saturation, pulse, and blood pressure between the two groups were assessed with the Mann-Whitney U test. 14. In addition there was no correlation between the oxygen saturation and the frequency of supraventricular and ventricular extrasystoles. 15. During the procedure the patients received oxygen, via nasal cannulae and heart rate and oxygen saturation were monitored continuously. 16. Pulse oximetry was used to monitor oxygen saturation and heart rate. 17. Oxygen saturation, respiratory effort, respiratory rate, and the visual analogue scale for dyspnoea were all significantly better with oxygen than with air. 18. The effects of oxygen on subjective dyspnoea in cancer patients with normal oxygen saturation should be studied in the future. 19. The ideal level of oxygen saturation and of oxygen administration should also be established in future trials. 20. His blood oxygen saturation was very low and steadily dropping. |
