11.   Traders said in addition to the dollar-buying by the Fed, the central banks of Germany and Japan also intervened to buy dollars today.

12.   Dealers reported rumours that the Bank of Japan had broken its normal policy by intervening to buy yen for dollars to slow down the rise of the dollar.

13.   Dealers said the Bank of Japan and other Asian central banks had intervened to buy dollars although the Japanese central bank was not active in the afternoon.
