11.   Almost all new immigrants are working class.

12.   Although illegal immigrants are already ineligible for nearly all federal benefit programs, they have received prenatal care and some other Medicaid benefits.

13.   Although the House bill ignores them completely, legal immigrants should be entitled to welfare benefits and to Medicaid and child health benefits as well.

14.   And despite the crackdown along the U.S.-Mexico border, immigrant smuggling is not a crime in many other countries.

15.   And even here, when immigrants were officially welcomed, they have faced discrimination and bigotry.

16.   And since these immigrants are overwhelmingly aspirational and entrepreneurial, their absorption is a guarantee that America will continue to renew itself in the next century.

18.   And, he says, the new immigrants are disproportionately prone to poverty, crime and welfare dependency.
