11. From what you have told me, I think the best bet is the French drain, to accommodate the water. 12. French drains are essentially plastic pipes perforated in the top half that are installed in a gravel-filled trench running either inside or outside the foundation wall. 13. However, that much water might be too much for the pump, so then your next step is a French drain. 14. I would like to plant a weeping willow tree a few feet from the French drain. 15. I would not consider a French drain, which is expensive, unless the space really floods, which I frankly think is unlikely. 16. If you already have a sump and pump, at least that will reduce the cost of a French drain. 17. Install a French drain, a gravel-filled U-shaped ditch surrounding the house. 18. Let it come in and out, but let it come in and out through the French drain, a drain pipe under the floor. 19. Perhaps the latest round of French drains will do the trick. 20. Q.
