16.   Beat in about half of flour mixture.

17.   Beat in flour mixture alternately with milk in three additions.

18.   Blend in part of the flour mixture, then part of the champagne, alternating additions and mixing to a smooth batter.

19.   Blend in flour mixture alternately with milk and rum.

20.   Blend in nuts with last of flour mixture.
