11.   Several mosques were vandalized and Moslem property damaged by monks in Rangoon at the weekend as communal tensions spread to the capital from the northern city of Mandalay.

12.   Some coalition partners have threatened to withdraw support from the government if they go ahead, fearing it will increase communal tensions.
