11.   Among other issues, he favored repealing the federal prohibition on assault weapons, supported a constitutional amendment to ban flag burning and backed legislation against abortion.

12.   And he said he would strongly object if Republicans tried to repeal the ban on assault weapons or the controls on handguns approved by Congress over their objections.

13.   And during his campaign Gov. Gray Davis promised to sign a bill that would strengthen a current law banning assault weapons.
