11.   The major airlines will voluntarily install fire detectors in the cargo compartments of the airplanes that do not already have them, aviation executives say.

12.   Capt. Duane Woerth, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, said that he believes airlines should install deadbolt locks and an additional mesh-net door.

13.   Other airlines have already installed interactive systems, but American said it waited to avoid investing in equipment that would rapidly become obsolete.

14.   The agency also recommended airlines install and maintain efficient air filters as well as keeping ground delays as short as possible.
