1.   Cut out strips and use to cover the board, trim the edge and smooth any joins.

2.   Trim the edges and spread over the jam.

3.   Trim the edges of the cake if they are uneven.

4.   Roll out the red fondant trimmings and cut out thin strips for the window and door trimmings, and for trimming the edge of the roof.

5.   Trim the edges so they are straight and even, and cut the strip so that it measures the circumference of the cake.

6.   Transfer to the drum to cover, and trim the edges.

7.   If the top of the cake is fairly flat, trim the edges with a knife to round the top of the head.

8.   Trim the edges and tuck around the body like a skirt.
