1.   Lexis-Nexis joined the stampede to the Web last week, announcing plans for new software that allows subscribers to access its database directly from the Web.

2.   Nearly every major magazine has a companion Web site that lets print subscribers access their accounts.

3.   NextLevel makes cable TV set-top boxes that allow subscribers to access premium cable channels and pay-per-view events.

4.   Subscribers can also access Habitat, a service that allows them to represent themselves in the form of an animated character on-screen and move about in a virtual world.

6.   The latest version of the system, called WebTV Plus, has added dimensions that allow subscribers to access cable television and the Internet through the same box.
