1.   At the bus station Sunday morning, nervous people with suitcases were skipping out on Montenegro, convinced that soon there would be bloodshed in this mountainous Yugoslav republic.

2.   It may well strengthen the hand of competing gangsters who could provoke new violence in the mountainous Central Asian republic.

3.   But the mountainous southern republic remains plagued by violence and some fighters have vowed revenge against Russia for largely destroying their republic.

4.   Despite a peace agreement with Russia, the mountainous republic has remained restive.

8.   President Vladimir Putin claimed Thursday that Russian forces have all but wrapped up the fight against rebels in Chechnya, despite daily clashes and casualties in the mountainous republic.

9.   Putting the troubled mountainous republic back on its feet, however, remains fraught with danger.

10.   Scattered clashes were reported across the ravaged mountainous republic Sunday.
