1.   At the bus station Sunday morning, nervous people with suitcases were skipping out on Montenegro, convinced that soon there would be bloodshed in this mountainous Yugoslav republic.

2.   It may well strengthen the hand of competing gangsters who could provoke new violence in the mountainous Central Asian republic.

3.   But the mountainous southern republic remains plagued by violence and some fighters have vowed revenge against Russia for largely destroying their republic.

9.   Putting the troubled mountainous republic back on its feet, however, remains fraught with danger.

10.   Scattered clashes were reported across the ravaged mountainous republic Sunday.
