1.   Saitoti announced measures to promote exports, including a reform of the import tariff system to assist imports of manufacturing inputs.

2.   The alternative measure revises trade figures initially provided for January to correct glitches in a newly installed import registration system.

3.   The trade ministry, due to glitches with a new import registration system, decided to report the two months together because companies lagged in reporting imports for January.

4.   The WTO said last week that the import system must conform with global trading rules by the end of this year.
