1.   Upon receipt of a complaint, the department will investigate the problem and, if necessary, take appropriate measures.

2.   Anthony Carnevale,a spokesman for the Massachusetts Department of Correction, said his department investigates each allegation of abuse made by Massachusetts prisoners in Dallas.

3.   Arpaio said his department had investigated threats against judges and other officials over the years and a county supervisor once was shot by a tax protester.
