1.   Badly worn shingles will have small holes that expose the wooden sheathing below.

2.   Look closely at these worn shingles.

3.   On the roof, worn shingles may have dark spots where the granules on their surface have washed off.

4.   Worn shingles will have little or no granular coating and a significant loss of color.
