1.   An approaching cold front will contribute to snow showers near the eastern Great Lakes and along the west slopes of the northern Appalachians.

2.   As moisture streams east on brisk jet stream winds, sprinkles may reach as far as the west slopes of the central Appalachians.

3.   Behind the front, cool, moist winds will prevail from the eastern Great Lakes to the west slopes from the Appalachians.

4.   A milder, moist airflow from the south will become established from the Mississippi Valley to the west slopes of the Appalachians with thickening clouds and a few showers.

5.   A strengthening cold front in the Rockies will trigger widespread showers and thunderstorms mainly on the west slopes in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming.

6.   A swath of clouds and showers will follow the front along the west slopes of the Appalachians as temperatures drop.

7.   Clouds and a few showers will form near the west slopes of the Appalachians later in the afternoon.

8.   Clusters of showers and thunderstorms will drench the west slopes of the southern Appalachians, but much of the rain will not reach the Carolinas on Saturday.

9.   Clouds will persist in the interior Northeast and along the west slopes of the Appalachians.

10.   Clouds will remain banked against the west slopes of the Appalachians as chilly, moist air over the Ohio Valley drifts into the mountains.
