1.   Backing off amid fears of more violence, the Protestant Orange Order Thursday night canceled or rerouted weekend marches that Roman Catholics had vowed to block.

2.   But the chairman of the group, Manfred Deiler, blamed neo-Nazis angry over the banning of a weekend march they had planned in Munich.

3.   Protestant militants threaten to kill civilians if weekend march is blocked.

4.   The first round of marches last weekend erupted in violence.

5.   Their action was in response to the police cancellation of a Protestant Orange order march last weekend following objections by the Catholic community.
