Both bills would ban large unlimited donations to the national political parties. 6. Bush would ban corporate and union soft money but allow unlimited donations from individuals. 7. Bush would ban only corporations and labor unions from giving these unlimited donations. 8. But he said they did not need to agree with his call to ban the unlimited unregulated donations to political parties known as soft money. 9. But his bill would keep another door open by allowing unlimited donations to state parties, long the conduits for soft money. 10. But the Hagel bill puts no cap on soft money to state parties which could continue to serve as the launderer for unlimited donations to candidates. |
