1.   The churches were fulfilling a government policy of teaching Canadian Indians English, assimilating them into Canadian society and training them for lives beyond traditional hunting and gathering.

2.   The company also derives sales from its traditional hunting and fishing apparel.

3.   An aboriginal community has agreed to stop traditional hunting of sea cows, known as dugongs, which are fast disappearing from the Great Barrier Reef.

4.   St. Vincent and the Grenadines is allowed to hunt two whales a year, among a handful of countries that have an exemption for indigenous people and traditional hunting.

5.   Deprived of any natural industry apart from their traditional hunting, most of the communities are heavily dependent on government grants from Ottawa.
