1.   Thin the sauce by adding milk.

2.   It may be necessary to thin the sauce slightly.

3.   Add a little of the cooking water if needed to thin the sauce.

4.   If necessary, thin the sauce with a few drops of hot water.

5.   If needed, stir in more water to thin the sauce.
