1.   Arifin Panigoro, an oil tycoon and member of the Assembly, is now under police investigation for allegedly making remarks during the discussion that tarnished the government.

2.   In the six years since Major took office, the government has been tarnished by a series of sexual and political scandals.

3.   The ruling Democratic Millennium Party accused the opposition and news media of deliberately tarnishing a government which is generally considered less corrupt than the past military-backed regimes.

4.   They also hold that the government is tarnished with management responsibility, since it appointed the governor and his two deputies.
