1.   He followed his re-election with a Cabinet reshuffle designed to strengthen support within the government for his market-oriented economic reforms.

2.   Polls showed, however, that Gates retained significant levels of support within Los Angeles, particularly within the white community.

3.   Germany was to raise support within the European Communities for the project.

4.   Support within the Labour Party for united action with the Communist Party slackened considerably after the results of the trials become known.

5.   And several Republicans pointed to Thomas Gulotta, the Nassau County executive, as a potent fund-raiser with support within the party.

6.   And Saddam has even less support within Iraq than the Taliban had in Afghanistan.

7.   At minimum, Gingrich hoped that his current excursion would shore up his support within the party after a bruising year of nearly constant sniping from his conservative wing.

8.   Bush enjoys political support within the GOP that is both wide and deep.
