1.   A Japanese boat owner came forward from Uwajima, the town that lost nine people when a U.S. Navy submarine rammed a Japanese fishing trawler off Hawaii last year.

2.   Bush had a taste of the unknown when a U.S. submarine rammed a Japanese fishing and high school research vessel and when floods struck the Midwest.

3.   Japanese resentment has also been fueled by an accident last month in which a U.S. submarine rammed a Japanese fishing vessel off of Hawaii.

4.   Sixteen civilians were on the Greeneville, two of them at key controls, when the submarine rammed the Ehime Maru.
