1.   A spokesman for the Chilean navy in Santiago said on Monday that the tugboat Galvarino had been dispatched to assist the stranded ship.

2.   Another icebreaker from Argentina and a South African boat carrying supplies also are heading toward the stranded ship.

3.   Argentina authorities said the Argentine icebreaker would join a South African ship that is also carrying supplies for the stranded ship.

4.   Some crews have remained aboard stranded ships in hopes of getting wages that are months overdue.

5.   But a Cypriot police patrol boat circled the stranded ship keeping unwanted visitors away, while a tow tanker piped fresh water aboard.

6.   The stranded ship is to be towed to the Togolese capital Lome for repairs, he added.

7.   Passengers on board a stranded Nigerian ship were evacuated by the Ghanaian navy Wednesday for repatriation to Lagos, official sources in Accra said.
