1.   Also, the old stain could bleed through paint or solid stain, so I would avoid those two finishes.

2.   If the dark stain bleeds through the undercoater, reprime with an oil-based primer such as Kilz.

3.   Otherwise the stain might bleed through paint or stain.

4.   The dirt stain bled through the paint.

5.   Without the shellac, the stains will bleed through the paint in a short time.
