1.   Fudo Construction, the second most traded share, was also targeted by speculators, traders said.

2.   Speculators usually target low-priced stocks, enabling them to buy more shares and thus more easily drive up the price.

3.   Other speculators targeted trademarks, in hopes of reselling names to trademark holders for higher prices.

4.   The Central Bank already has spent billions of dollars defending the currency since last summer, making it more difficult for speculators to target it.

5.   The rupiah has lost about a third of its value since July, when several Southeast Asian currencies were targeted by speculators.
