1. An easier solution is to buy a new shower arm. 2. In cases where tape is required, wrap Teflon tape around the threads on the shower arm. 3. Some shower arms are fitted with unremovable balls. 4. The second step is tightening the fastening nut onto the shower arm. 5. The tape keeps the tools from scratching the finish on the shower head and shower arm, the angled pipe to which the shower head is attached. 6. To replace a shower arm, shut off the water to the shower and use a wrench to unscrew the arm from its fitting inside the wall. 7. To prevent burns in the shower, place an anti-scald adapter between the shower arm and the showerhead. 8. Use the pliers or wrench to grasp the nut holding the shower head to the shower arm and apply moderate pressure to loosen it. 9. When unscrewing the old head, grip the shower arm tightly to keep it from turning, which can cause leaks. |
