1.   The agreement requires each republic to get the approval of two-thirds of all the NFA creditors for a restructuring of its share of the debt.

2.   Where the USSR got two or three entries in most sports, each republic gets that many now.

4.   In his traditional weekly interview on state radio, Shevardnadze claimed that with German and American help the troubled mountainous republic was actually getting out of its energy crisis.

5.   Milosevic, whose nationalist rhetoric helped instigate Serb rebellions in Croatia and Bosnia, has been under pressure to recognize both former Yugoslav republics to get international sanctions lifted.

6.   The Bosnia peace accord gave the federation half of Bosnia, while the Serb republic got the other half.

7.   The four secessionist republics would get nothing.
