1.   In Nis Thursday, several thousand opposition supporters jeered at a smaller crowd of government supporters while Serbian President Milan Milutinovic reopened a bridge damaged by NATO bombs.

2.   U.S. Rep. Brad Carson said he would seek federal funds to have the bridge reopened within six months.

3.   A spokesman for the Palestinian liaison committee with Israel said the Palestinians decided to reopen the bridge after Israel agreed to discuss their complaints.

4.   But Uzbekistan balked at repeated requests, including from the United States, to reopen the bridge, citing security concerns.
