1.   In the end Krushchev backed down and agreed to remove the missiles from Cuba.

7.   Removing the missiles from Grand Forks would leave the Pentagon with several choices.

8.   The president wants the missiles removed peacefully, while the generals want them taken out by an airstrike.

9.   Thus, if the missiles are removed at one of those, the base could be shut down entirely -- saving even more money.
