1. He thought the remark was melancholy, sadly philosophical, a throwaway line for an aimless afternoon. 2. His remark was a cheap shot at short people. 3. His remark was the occasion of a bitter quarrel. 4. His remarks are actionable in my view. 5. His remarks are nevertheless bound to stir controversy. 6. His remarks are offensive to African-Americans. 7. I did not think my remarks were particularly snide. 8.
