1.   A diminished receptor expression may be due to reduced membrane insertion or increased degradation of the receptor in inhibitor treated cells.

2.   Differentiating cells have in some cases shown a reduction in vitamin D receptor expression, and the modulation of receptor expression may be dependent on the state of differentiation.

3.   Hepatocyte injury may also influence receptor expression and activation as described above.

4.   Altered integrin receptor expression by hepatocytes during disease provides a mechanism by which the cellular response to normal and abnormal matrix may be further modulated.
