1.   De Baggio never prunes the roots or moves the plant into larger containers in the fall.

2.   So prune those roots, and cut back that new growth.

3.   To prune roots, take the plant out of its container, remove the soil from around the roots and cut away some of the bigger roots.

4.   Kennedy has scheduled a hearing for Wednesday on an effort by monument opponents to prevent the National Park Service from pruning the roots of elm trees on the site.
