1.   The authors said that natural colonization remained a possibility if Canada and the United States worked together to protect wolves in the dispersal corridors.

3.   Wolves are protected in Finland, but special permits are given to hunt them especially in Lapland where they attack reindeer.

4.   The wolf is protected by the international convention of Berne which strictly bans capturing or hunting the beast.
