1.   As descending air currents within the thunderstorms intercept a zone of fast-moving air aloft, powerful downburst winds will occur, producing damaging gusts in several locations.

2.   As mild, desert air descends toward the Pacific, it accelerates through canyons in the Southern California mountains, producing desiccating gusts known as Santa Ana winds.

3.   But the gust was not produced by a tornado.

4.   Bands of very heavy showers and thunderstorms producing wind gusts of tropical storm force and periodic torrential downpours will affect the Virgin Islands throughout the remainder of the afternoon.
