1.   Night-time mountain biking has gained in popularity, because of crowding during the day and more powerful bike lights.

2.   Traffic police have complained they were unable to catch the racers, who had more powerful bikes.

3.   Barricades and spiked devices to puncture tyres will be deployed across the city, while police will be issued with powerful bikes to enable them to give chase.

4.   Police now ride powerful bikes and brandish electric prods.
