1.   Pot the tubers with their crowns exposed in a loam-free potting compost.

2.   Soak drills beforehand and cover the seeds with moist peat or old potting compost in dry weather.

3.   If you need potting compost now, buy just enough for your immediate needs and then buy more in the spring as it can go off.

4.   You can remove the top of a leggy dracaena cane, treat the cut end with a rooting hormone and plant in a well-draining potting compost.
