1. The plasma gastrin concentrations in the various groups increased in the same order of magnitude as expected from the gastrin dose given. 2. The plasma gastrin concentrations increased from group to group as expected from the dose given. 3. Ryberg et al using the same radioimmunoassay for determination of plasma gastrin, found higher concentrations for the corresponding gastrin doses than we did. 4. Despite this reduction in plasma gastrin, no consistent changes in rates of acid secretion have been documented after eradication treatment. 5. We therefore also plotted individual dose-response curves of log plasma gastrin against the basal-subtracted acid output. 6. Eradication of TH pylori lowered the plasma gastrin in the duodenal ulcer patients to values equivalent to the H pylori negative healthy volunteers. |
