1. Attach the patch piece by drilling pilot holes at an angle through the mitered ends of the patch and old fascia boards. 2. Be sure to drill pilot holes first. 3. But particleboard, especially the new superdense stuff, needs predrilling a pilot hole for each screw. 4. Drill all the pilot holes then align the casing to the reveal and nail it in place. 5. Drill pilot holes along the inside edge of the casing. 6. Drill pilot holes then secure the brace with two-inch wood screws. 7. Drive short lengths of dowel into the holes, cut them flush, then drill pilot holes for the screws and remount the hinges. 8. Drill a pilot hole in the joist and drive in a screw eye. 9. Drill a pilot hole in the material. 10. Drill pilot holes for the nails, which should be countersunk and the holes filled with wood filler. |
