1. A few thunderstorms should develop from these clouds Thursday afternoon and winds aloft from the north will move the widely separated storms onto the Piedmont plateau. 2. Afternoon thundershowers will develop on the Piedmont plateau, in south Florida and near the Gulf Coast. 3. Cold air will be wedged between the southern Appalachians and the Coast leading to a chilly rain, mixed with ice on the Piedmont plateau. 4. Onshore winds from the Middle Atlantic coast to the Southeast will draw moisture from a stalled offshore front back into the Piedmont plateau. 5. Onshore winds will keep low clouds over parts of the Piedmont plateau. 6. Showers and strong thunderstorms will erupt in the steamy air mass over the Southeast, particularly in the Appalachians and Piedmont plateau. 7. Sleet may mix with rain along the Piedmont plateau. 8. Sleet and freezing rain will glaze sections of the central and eastern Piedmont plateau from northeast North Carolina to northeast Georgia. 9. The day will begin with record chill over parts of the Southeast as the first frost ends the growing season in many sections of the Piedmont plateau. 10. The strongest thunderstorms are likely to affect the southern Appalachians and the Piedmont plateau. |
