1.   Opposition leader Edward Seaga of the Jamaica Labor Party has accused the government of staging a crackdown to persecute supporters in his parliamentary constituency of west Kingston.

2.   The MQM in turn accuses the government of persecuting its supporters.

3.   The party denies the charges and accuses the government of persecuting its supporters.

4.   Thousands of para-military rangers and police are engaged in fighting the spiral of violence, amid charges by MQM that the government is persecuting its supporters.
