1.   Child sex abuse scandals in Ireland have led to a crisis for the Roman Catholic Church with a bishop resigning because of how he dealt with paedophile priests.

2.   The pope accepted on Saturday the resignation of an Irish bishop severely criticised for the way he dealt with a paedophile priest, Roman Catholic church authorities said.

3.   The Roman Catholic primate of Ireland, Cardinal Daly, apologised on behalf of the church to all those who had been abused by paedophile priests.

4.   US cardinals began a landmark two-day meeting in the Vatican Tuesday to formally discuss the problem of paedophile priests which has shook the Roman Catholic Church.

5.   Labour has further asked for a detailed explanation on why the judiciary took several months to apply for the extradition of a paedophile priest.

6.   Late last month US cardinals recommended a special process for defrocking serial paedophile priests after crisis talks in Rome with Pope John Paul II and top Vatican officials.
