1.   A helpful northerly breeze was filling the sails, so that they were building up gentle speed across the waters of the bay.

2.   Abundant clouds, light showers and cool northerly breezes will linger from the northern Great Lakes to the Missouri River Valley.

3.   Clouds and a few sprinkles will linger over northern New England, but increasing northerly breezes will deliver dry, cool air to most of the Northeast.

4.   Clouds will dissipate during the day over the interior Carolinas and Georgia as drier air arrives on northerly breezes.

5.   Clouds and a few snow and rain showers will linger over the northern Mississippi valley as northerly breezes deliver colder air.

6.   During the day, clouds will break elsewhere in the Northeast as cool northerly breezes import drier air.

7.   Farther north in the Plains states, it will turn cooler gradually as northerly breezes develop.

8.   In the West Coast states, cool weather will prevail as northerly breezes persist.

9.   Northerly breezes will persist over most of the eastern states.

10.   The Southeast will have cool northerly breezes in the wake of a cold front.
