1.   In August, scans showed shrinkage in the tumors in his lungs and last month doctors said no new lesions were forming in his liver and kidneys.

2.   There is no sign of any new lesions.

3.   Current treatments can slow the development of new lesions and cause existing ones to disappear for long periods, Friedman-Kien said.

4.   If he has not developed new lesions, he can have annual follow-ups.

5.   It is during this time that dentists can identify and treat any new lesions they may find.
