1.   The city left the natural wash intact, and the area now serves as both flood control and urban wildlife habitat.

2.   Instead of lining desert washes or arroyos with concrete channeling, the city will test allowing natural washes in a specified area to carry the flow.

3.   One sticking point is a proposal in the corridor plan to restrict development in the floodplain and leave washes natural.

4.   The water is funneled into wide channels that are sloped to resemble a natural wash, with sandy bottoms.
