1.   Everybody seemed to have heard that it had only been linked to frozen, contaminated Mexican strawberries served in school cafeterias.

2.   Recent outbreaks of infection from Mexican strawberries, Guatemalan raspberries, alfalfa sprouts and basil spotlighted the safety issue in fresh fruit and vegetables, particularly imports.

3.   A Mexican official said Wednesday that an outbreak of hepatitis among U.S. school children was more likely caused by U.S. processing than by the Mexican strawberries themselves.

4.   The Department of Agriculture does not conduct health or sanitary inspections of Mexican strawberries, Gonzalez said.
